Last month, new display ad elements were added to Tuudo application, aimed at meeting the increasing communication needs of educational institutions and students’ own desires for relevant additional content, such as student benefits.
In Lauttasaari, Helsinki, at Tuudo’s secondary office, Juha Mellin, Sales Director responsible for media sales, has just finished a meeting with the technical team. The past few months have been largely spent on developing the new communication feature, in which Mellin has been heavily involved. Now, we have progressed to the point where the first display ad elements are visible in the app.
Mellin is particularly excited about the many opportunities display communication offers both internally and externally: “Through display ad elements, we can provide guidance and tips for the versatile use of Tuudo, as well as report on current and interesting events, such as recruitment fairs. For commercial partners, this is a great way to reach students about topics that interest them. Tuudo is a highly targeted and relevant platform, where wasted contacts do not occur.”
What exactly is display communication?
Our new display ad elements offer educational institutions even better opportunities to visually communicate with their students, while we can provide students with new types of relevant content, such as information about new student benefits or job opportunities.
Student benefits, in particular, raise students’ interest, and through display, we can highlight these benefits better. “There has been a student benefits menu in Tuudo for a long time, where companies have been able to communicate about long-term student benefits, but thanks to display, advertising can be done more diversely. Now we can effectively communicate even shorter campaigns, and campaigns don’t have to be targeted only to students. They can also be general short-term marketing campaigns that young adults are interested in”, Mellin says with a smile, clicking open Tuudo’s student benefits menu.
In addition to student benefit campaigns, Mellin points out that the new communication format is an extremely valuable addition to Tuudo’s Career paths section: “Display advertising also works particularly well as an announcement platform in larger recruitment campaigns.”

The new opportunities of display advertising spark interest
Mellin has already spoken with several potential clients about Tuudo’s new features. The reception has been very positive, and there is demand for an operator like Tuudo. “Companies appreciate that Tuudo is a domestic and secure media environment and an alternative to multinational big media. Now we can more easily tailor multifaceted campaigns for ourselves, including both permanent visibility in different sections, which display advertising supports,” Mellin describes.
Just then, Mellin’s phone rings and work calls again. With the launch of display advertising, it’s good to get used to customer inquiries, as this new and effective way to reach such a unique target group interests many.
